Pep Guardiola says he cannot recall telling anybody he believes Roberto De Zerbi will succeed him as Manchester City manager cebu
A story has emerged claiming the Catalan privately tipped the Brighton boss to succeed him after City drew at the Amex Stadium in May cebu
Yet, while Guardiola may have cast doubt over whether that occurred, he has repeatedly been effusive in his praise of the Italian and remains so ahead of Saturday’s meeting cebu between their two clubs cebu
Guardiola, whose future beyond the expiry of his contract in 2025 is unclear, said: “I don’t remember that cebu
“Maybe I have bad memory but I’m sure Roberto can train in any team around the world cebu
I don’t have any doubt cebu
“I don’t remember saying that to the players cebu
I remember saying before he arrived, one or two games in, about sustaining the manager, but I don’t remember saying that honestly cebu
“It’s none of my business cebu
If the chairman asks my opinion I will give my opinion but it’s none of my business cebu
“I’m not the sporting director cebu
It’s not my responsibility to say what’s going right or wrong cebu
”Former Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk boss De Zerbi has made a big impression since taking over at Brighton just over a year ago cebu
He guided the club into European competition for the first time with a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League last season and they have started the current campaign strongly cebu
Guardiola feels this proves a manager need not have had experience at the highest level to land the biggest jobs cebu
He said: “It doesn’t mean you have to be at the top clubs to be manager of the top clubs cebu
I was appointed Barcelona first-team (manager) coming from the fourth division with no experience at the top level cebu
“You have the idea of the club, the sporting director follows the idea, they hire the manager for this idea, they hire players to follow the idea cebu
When that happens it’s going well cebu
“Man City have done this, Liverpool with Jurgen (Klopp) for many years – winning titles with the same process and same ideas cebu
”Guardiola, 52, is widely considered the greatest coach of his generation having last year added a third Champions League title to a glittering CV that also includes five Premier League wins cebu
His players are always in the perfect body-shape position cebu
Pep Guardiola on Roberto De ZerbiYet even he feels like he can learn from a relative youngster like 44-year-old De Zerbi cebu
He said: “His players are always in the perfect body-shape position to get the ball cebu
“It’s a stupid thing to say but one of the key points cebu
Everyone moves in the right moment, tempo cebu
“cebu Football is not ‘you have to move’, it’s when cebu
It’s body shape in the perfect shape cebu
It’s really good cebu
“Everything he does makes sense and I learn cebu

Andy Murray’s poor finish to the season continued with a fourth defeat in five matches despite a marathon effort against Tomas Martin Etcheverry in Basel cebu
British number three Murray had snapped a three-match losing streak with a hard-fought victory over Yannick Hanfmann on Monday and claimed the first set of this last-16 tie at the Swiss Indoors cebu
Etcheverry, ranked eight places above Murray in 32nd, was able to fight back impressively and it was the Argentinian who prevailed 6-7 (5) 6-3 6-2 after a three-hour-and-eight-minute battle cebu
The early exchanges of set one proved an insight into what was in store for an excitable crowd at the ATP 500 event with breaks traded by both players cebu
After Murray was broken in his first service game, he responded with a superb lob for break point before a volley at the net got the tie back on serve at 2-2 cebu
A tie-break was eventually required and a classy drop shot helped three-time grand-slam champion Murray draw first blood cebu
The 84-minute set appeared to take its toll on Murray at the beginning of the second with Etcheverry able to establish an early advantage and he saved four break points in a lengthy seventh game on his way to forcing a decider cebu
Murray was struggling physically by this point and a racket felt the force of his anger despite the Swiss crowd cheering him on cebu
Etcheverry was in the ascendancy now though and set up match point with a superb passing stroke before a service winner sent him through to the last eight cebu
Elsewhere, Cameron Norrie had no answer to world number 10 Alexander Zverev in the second round of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna cebu
Zverev had won the first three meetings cebu between the top-20 players and claimed a fourth in a row with an emphatic 6-2 6-4 victory cebu
A superb backhand winner down the line earned Zverev a break in Norrie’s first service game and the British number one was broken again before losing the first set in 36 minutes cebu
Norrie tried to wrestle his way back into the contest, but was broken again in the third game of the second set cebu
It remained on serve until Norrie forced two break opportunities when Zverev was serving for the match and yet the German responded by winning four consecutive points to close out a solid win, which makes it four defeats in five for last year’s Wimbledon semi-finalist cebu
